Are you in search of sensory friendly and accessible venues suitable for children? We've curated a list of parks and locations in Canton with inclusive support for individuals with physical, intellectual and sensory challenges.

Heritage Park North Playground

Visit this area of Heritage Park and check out the "We-Go-Round," a modern twist on the traditional merry-go-round designed to foster inclusivity. This innovative solution offers individuals in wheelchairs an exhilarating spinning experience, ensuring that children of all abilities can have fun together.

Other amenities at the North Playground include accessible soft-fall surfacing, an x-saw (see-saw), an activity panel, a picnic table and two-partner swings.

Heritage Park Music Playground

Visit the musical playground on the north end of Heritage Park constructed to be accessible to children with disabilities, especially for those utilizing walkers and wheelchairs. It boasts a variety of musical instruments including chimes, bells and drums to promote social interaction, gross motor skills, fine motor skills and sensory integration.

Liberty Fest 2024

Established in 1991, Liberty Fest is Canton’s largest annual community gathering. Held in Heritage Park, the three-day festival will take place June 13-15, 2024.

Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 PM is geared towards families and children with autism and sensory sensitivities to enjoy all the fun Liberty Fest has to offer.

Additionally, KultureCity sensory-friendly tents will be available during all three days of Liberty Fest on the north and south side of Heritage Park to provide a safe space for those with sensory issues to rest.

KultureCity Sensory Bags

Look for the KultureCity symbol at the Summit on the Park, Village Theater at Cherry Hill, the Canton Sports Center, the B.L.O.C.K. Youth & Teen Center, the Canton Farmers Market and many special events. These facilities will now be equipped with special sensory bags to help guests with sensory needs, including noise-canceling headphones, fidgets, weighted blankets and more.

Visitors to these designated facilities or events are welcome to borrow sensory bags for the duration of their visit. Please remember to return the equipment before leaving for the day.

Chuck E. Cheese Sensory Sensitive Sundays

Located at 42001 Ford Rd in Canton.

What to expect during a Sensory Sensitive Sunday at Chuck E. Cheese:

Emagine Theatre Sensory Friendly Movies

Located at 39535 Ford Rd in Canton.

What you can expect during a sensory friendly movie at Emagine:

  • Brighter house lights and lower volume.
  • Audience interaction (movement, talking, singing) and usage of phones and electronics are allowed.
  • The option to bring a safe snack for any food allergies or food avoidances/restrictions.
