There’s a freedom that comes with listening to e-audiobooks with the hoopla and Libby apps. The most obvious is the fact that you can experience a good book while you do other things, like go for a walk or a drive.
Did you know though that you can also consume the story at a faster rate? How about the fact that you can listen to the book at bedtime and not worry about losing your spot? Or that you can make virtual bookmarks? If any of that is news to you, read on, because we’re going to illuminate some of hoopla and Libby’s helpful and lesser-known features.
Listen faster.
If you’re listening to a popular book that you’re unable to renew, you might find yourself in a race to finish it. Have no fear! Both hoopla and Libby allow you to change the speed of an audiobook and listen up to twice as fast. There’s also a meter that allows you to finetune the playback speed to a specific number.
Let the apps sleep when you do.
Listening to an audiobook right before bed is a great way to relax and it helps some people clear their minds of restless thoughts. But what happens if you get so comfortable you fall asleep before you stop your book? Set a sleep timer in the app—no need to worry. You can choose a preset timer of up to 60 minutes, and rest assured that your book won’t go on without you.
Mark the spot.
You might not think it’s possible to refer back to something you liked in an e-audiobook, but both hoopla and Libby have features to jump around to your favorite parts of a book, based on the table of contents or your own selections. You can tap a chapter or article and jump directly to it; or bookmark passages to return to later.
However you choose to listen, we hope you enjoy all the options that our hoopla and Libby collections have to offer.
