Get the Most Out of Libby

Do you remember when we announced statewide e-media partnerships with other Michigan libraries? The Libby app doesn’t just allow you to check out the multitude of e-books and e-audiobooks in our collection, it also allows you to browse and borrow items from other libraries as well, but here's the catch: you can only see the full list in the Libby app

So, if you’re just browsing our catalog for e-resources, you’re missing out! To expand your searches to other libraries on Libby, add a library group (consortium) in the app.

  1. Select the middle button with the three horizontal lines. You’ll see “Metro Net Library Consortium” and any other libraries already in your app. To add more, tap “Add Library.”
  2. Type in the name, city, or zip code of one our partner libraries. This will bring up results for matching libraries. When you see the one you want, tap the tiny card icon next to the library’s name.
  3. Tap the red “Sign in with my card” button. On the next screen, you’ll look for Canton Public Library under “Partner libraries.” Tap the card icon there.
  4. Enter your Canton Public Library card number and PIN to sign in. You’ll see a digital icon of your card. Finally, hit the "Next" button.

Now, when you search for a particular item that CPL owns, you will see whatever copy you can get fastest. (If CPL doesn't own the title, you will have to search each consortium directly to see if they have it.)

If you tap the card icon, you’ll see which library has the item and—if there are holds—how long you’ll have to wait to get it. If the item isn’t available at any of your libraries, you can tag it with a “Notify Me” tag to trigger an alert if it is later added to the collection.
