Hidden Collections: Lucky Day and New DVDs

There’s no shortage of content on streaming services these days; however, the sheer amount of content available and the multitude of platforms you need to navigate to find what you want can be daunting.

At CPL, we want to make things much simpler for you. Instead of searching several different services, we have many new titles to browse in one place. Enjoy browsing our physical collections, where the wealth of information on a DVD case will tell you so much more than the often very brief descriptions on your TV. Not only that, but DVDs and Blu-rays often come with supplemental material that are not always included on streaming services.

We’ve also made finding new movies and TV shows easier than ever. The front of our DVD section is now dedicated to new releases. Here, you’ll find new movies and television shows that have been released on DVD in the last three months. The selection includes big name titles and well as small, independent ones that might not have had a wide theatrical release. It’s not just American films and television shows either. Newly released movies and programs from around the world are all shelved in our new DVD section first.

Sometimes a new movie is in such high demand that no copies of it will make it to our new DVDs section—it is always checked out. Those films and shows have long hold lists of patrons waiting to see them, but there’s still a chance you could leave the library with one. These popular new films can often be found in our Lucky Day section located just east of our new book shelf.

The books and DVDs in the Lucky Day section are in such demand that they check out differently than other materials. You’re limited to a combination of four items from the section; they’re not renewable; and they are checked out for a shorter time period. Lucky Day DVDs can be kept for three days, and books can be kept for seven days.
