May the 4th Be with You: Exploring the Galaxy of E-comics

Free Comic Book Day is on May 4, 2024, making the immensely popular day even more special. In celebration, discover all the e-comic resources the library has and how to access them.

Comics Plus

Comics Plus gives you access to thousands of digital comics, graphic novels, and manga. Readers will recognize works from dozens of the industry’s biggest publishers, some of which include Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, Kodansha and more.

You’ll be able to access these e-comics on several devices, including Apple and Android products. Check your app store to download it, or use your PC. But don’t forget your Canton Public Library card number as it’s required.

Libby

You might recognize Libby as a go-to resource for e-books and e-audiobooks, but did you know that it also has a collection of comics and graphic books?

Libby's collection is broken up into four categories. By default, everyone starts on the “Adult” page, so if you browse by subject, you will be shown adult-geared titles. There’s a category for kids, teens, and even one for magazines, which shows comic-focused issues. To use Libby, your library card number and PIN are required. Get started with Libby here.

hoopla

Hoopla is another resource that may not always come to mind when thinking about how to access comics electronically. In reality, it has a robust collection of e-comics to go along with its standard offerings of e-audiobooks, e-books, TV series and movies. Expect to find series featuring popular titles like Invincible and Attack on Titan to Star Wars and Marvel classics.

Along with your library card number, you will need to create a hoopla account with an email address. Find out more on hoopla.
