Renew Your Library Card Online

You no longer need to come into the library to renew your Canton Public Library card. Simply select “Update/Verify an Existing Card” in the card portal and click through each screen to review and submit.

The card portal will cross-check your name and address with U.S. postal service data to confirm your identity and continued eligibility for a card. Once your Canton address is verified, your expiration date will be extended by three years. For example, if your card was set to expire on 8/1/2024 and you reviewed and submitted your Canton address through the card portal on that day, your card’s new expiration date would be 8/1/2027.

If your address can’t be verified or is no longer in Canton, the card portal will still accept the update—so that we have your correct address on record—but your expiration date will not be extended.

You can check your card’s expiration date and confirm that it extended by looking in the “My Settings” section of your account online. To access your account online, you do need to register your card.

You can learn more about why cards expire here. Access the card portal here.

For Non-Canton Residents

If you are a Plymouth District Library cardholder, and have already registered your account with us, you can renew your Canton Public Library access online by following the same steps as above.

If you work, own property, or go to school in Canton you will need to come into the library to renew your card. Please stop by the Check Out Desk with your photo ID and proof that you work, own property or go to school in Canton.

If you are not a Canton resident and not in any of the categories above, but you have registered your home library card with us, you will also need to come into the library to renew your card.
