Congratulations on taking the first step to declutter your home! Next step: give away what you can to prevent items from ending up in the landfill.
If any of your unwanted items include gently used books, DVDs, jigsaw puzzles or board games, you can donate them to Friends of Canton Public Library. The group of volunteers who operate the Secondhand Prose Bookstore sort through and shelve donated materials for sale, and staff the cash register. They are also always looking for new volunteers—contact them using the form at the bottom of this page if you are interested.
Please note that items should be in good, undamaged condition—no stains, tears, missing pieces or water damage. Donations are accepted at the rear (southwest) corner of the library, near the loading dock. Drop off items (in bags or boxes) at the wooden shelter, then make that satisfying check off your spring cleaning to-do list!
What Secondhand Prose Does Not Accept
The Friends don’t accept music CDs, VHS, magazines, encyclopedias (individual books or sets) or Reader's Digest condensed books.
So, what about the rest of your stuff?
There are plenty of ways to give those castoffs a second life. Check out some good donation options here.
