Summary
Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell; all he wants is to buy the local pub. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and names him the heir to his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair).
Charlie finds that becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits. His uncle might have been a stand-up, old-fashioned kind of villain, but he still has enemies, and they are rich, soulless predators backed by multinational corporations and venture capital.
Now, it's up to Charlie to win the war his uncle started against a league of supervillains. But with unionized dolphins, hyperintelligent talking spy cats, and a terrifying henchperson at his side, going bad is starting to look pretty good.
She recommends it because...
"This book was hilarious," says Michelle. "It was fantastically narrated by Wil Wheaton." (Unfortunately, CPL does not have the audiobook that Michelle loved so much.) Still, readers will be delighted. "It was funny and had a fast-moving plot."
Who might enjoy it?
"I think people who enjoy a laugh in their spy-type novels will enjoy this, along with action and great narration," says Michelle.
