STEAM for Everyone: 62 Days of Summer Edition

Who doesn’t love fun STEAM programming? Not only are there some great in-person options happening at the Canton Public Library this summer, but also some awesome suggestions online that you can try at home with your family.

The wonderful thing about STEAM for Everyone is that it is really meant for all ages to enjoy the activity together. Get out your calendar and your curiosity and enjoy some STEAM fun this summer!

STEAM for Everyone: Farming

In the not-so-distant past, Canton was a primarily farming community. As times have changed, people begin to forget where their food comes from.

Have no fear! Learn all about agriculture at our STEAM for Everyone: Farming program on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 2:00-3:30 PM. We will have baby chicks and plenty of crafts and activities all about the STEAM world of farms and farming. The Canton Historical Society will also be sharing some of the tools used to harvest from back in the day.

This program is open to all ages and does not require registration.

STEAM for Everyone: Painting Journals

Nature journaling uses a blend of notation and art to record observations, reflections and sketches of the natural world to foster curiosity, connection and understanding of the environment. People engage in this type of journaling for various reasons. This can include enhancing observational skills, promoting mindfulness, documenting biodiversity, conducting scientific research, and expressing creativity through art and writing.

Patrons of all ages and abilities are invited to join us behind the library for STEAM for Everyone: Painting Journals on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 AM.

This is a great opportunity to use your 62 Days of Summer Field notebook or bring in a journal from home and your favorite pen, pencil or other art supplies. If you do not have these things, you can borrow them from the library while supplies last.

This program is open to all ages and does not require registration.

STEAM for Everyone: Online

If you can’t make it to our wonderful programs, we have amazing STEAM activities on our website. These activities are made for patrons of all ages, and be sure to share with us if you get the chance to try any of them out at home.
