Howdy Friends!
Sheriff Thorndyke here. I just came back from a rodeo and learned so much. Did you know that rodeos have been around for almost 200 years? It’s true! Rodeo events show off skills that cowboys need to do their job. Cowboys rode horses and moved their cattle (that means cows) around the West.
Before going to the rodeo, I didn’t know horses came in so many sizes and colors. I saw black horses, white horses, brown horses, spotted horses, fuzzy horses and little horses! When I got back to the library, I decided I wanted to make a craft to remember my time at the rodeo. What better way to remember the beautiful horses than by making a portrait of one? It was so much fun that I just have to share it with you.
Your friend,
Sheriff Thorndyke
Materials
- Wooden horse silhouette
- Liquid glue or Modge Podge
- Buttons* of different shapes, sizes and colors
- Pom poms*
- Glitter*
- Sequins*
- Tissue paper*
*These are just ideas for materials to decorate your horse. You and your grownup can decide to use something else or only use one of these options.
Instructions
- Ask your grownup to help you apply a layer of glue to the horse. It needs to be thick enough to hold the buttons and poms.
- Apply the decorations to your horse. You can make a horse with only one color, or maybe you want a pink polka dot horse.
- Let your horse dry for a few hours.
