Storytime: Spring

Did you miss storytime? Perhaps it is just one of those days when you need a little boost with your little ones. Fret not. We have gathered some storytime resources for you at home. Follow our steps below or mix-and-match for the ultimate storytime experience.

Today’s Theme: Spring

1. Energize with a Song

Start your storytime by singing "We Say Hello Like This" to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell."

We say hello like this (wave)

We say hello like this (wave)

We’re all here for storytime!

We say hello like this (wave)

2. Read a Book About Spring

As the world awakens from winter’s chill, spring bursts onto the scene with blooming flowers, chirping birds and sunshine-filled days. These picture books celebrate the magic of the season—buds blossoming, animals emerging, rainy-day adventures and the joy of warmer weather. Whether you're looking for stories about nature's renewal, playful outdoor fun or the wonder of baby animals, these books are perfect for welcoming the fresh and vibrant spirit of spring.

3. Activity: Counting Ducks

Print out these ducks, color them in and carefully cut them out. Use magnets to place them on a cookie sheet, your refrigerator or any other magnetic surface.

Start with one duck on your magnetic surface.

Sing:

One little duck is swimming in the water,

Swimming in the water,

Swimming in the water.

One little duck is swimming in the water,

Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack!

Add a second duck and sing the song again, replacing "one" with "two."

Add the third duck and sing it one last time, now with "three little ducks!"

4. Sing a Goodbye Song

See you next time! Wrap up your storytime and sing along with our librarians to "Skinnamarink."
