Today’s Theme: Super Socks and Silly Feet
Do you love cozy socks? What about socks with wild patterns or fun characters on them? Or is your favorite thing to wear on your feet nothing—just letting your toes squish in the grass and wiggle like worms in the sunshine? This sock and feet-themed storytime can be used as a springboard for learning, exploration, and of course, fun!
1. Energize with a Song
Sing "If You’d Like to Read a Book" (sing to the tune of "If You’re Happy and You Know It").
If you’d like to read a book, raise your hand
If you’d like to read a book, raise your hand
If you’d like to read a book, listen up and take a look
If you’d like to read a book, raise your hand!
Tip: when singing “listen up,” point to your ears; when singing “take a look,” point to your eyes.
2. Recite a Rhyme
- Play "This Little Piggie" on your toes.
- Make up a rhyme about your favorite pair of socks.
- Count your toes and tickle them.
3. Read a Book about Socks and/or Feet
Enjoy these great titles during your at-home storytime adventure!
4. Sing a Goodbye Song
See you next time! Wrap up your storytime and sing along with our librarians to "Skinnamarink."
