The Library in the Wild: Where to Find Us This Summer

Canton Public Library is thrilled when you come to visit us, but we also venture outside our building so we can meet you where you are and bring the library to you. Here’s when and where we plan to do that all summer long.

Pop-Ups in the Park

If you like to spend time outdoors, Canton’s parks are a great place to do it. Join us for Pop-Up in the Park as we’ll park ourselves at one such location from 11:00 AM until noon on the following Fridays: June 28 at Kopper Park, July 12 at Barchester Park, and August 9 at Flodin Park. We will provide yard games, the opportunity to get a library card, library swag and snacks. Slather up with sunscreen and bring your curiosity.

Storytime at the Canton Farmers Market

We all love the Canton Farmers Market for their locally grown food and other treats and treasures, and we at the library love to help enhance the experience with storytimes and activities for all ages. Come see us at Preservation Park (500 Ridge Road, Canton) on Sundays from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM on June 30, July 7 and 28, August 4, 11 and 18. Storytimes will begin around 10:00 AM and noon.

Tuesdays are Terrific: Global Adventure

Join us from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM on Tuesday, July 9 at the Heritage Park amphitheater for Global Adventure, the first in a five-week series, welcoming the teaching artists of Global Tales to Canton. Language, music, movement and humor are all part of their interactive program.

Pride OUTside

Pride OUTside is an LGBTQ+ Pride event hosted by Canton Leisure Services and will take place on July 13 from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Heritage Park amphitheater. Canton Public Library will be there with a table and lots of love and support for our LGBTQ+ patrons and allies. You can also expect live music and other performances, food trucks, and other vendors.

National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, August 1 from 6:30-8:30 PM.  Stay tuned for more details.

Prize Patrol

Prize Patrol is back again this summer! Make sure to stake out your CPL “Library Lovers Live Here” yard sign or grab a new one during your next visit to the library. Throughout the summer, our staff will patrol the streets of Canton looking for yard signs and delivering swag bags to library lovers throughout our community. Keep an eye on our Facebook page to see when we are headed to your neighborhood.
