Thorndyke’s Portal to Sock Puppets

Hi Kids,

Do your socks ever mysteriously disappear? They go in the washing machine and dryer with their matching pair, and then only one comes out. Oh no! Instead of throwing out the remaining single sock, you can use it to make a friendly, fun sock puppet.

You will need:

  • A sock
  • A marker
  • Googly eyes or buttons
  • Yarn or pipe cleaners
  • Craft or felt glue

Step 1: Fit the sock on your hand and use the marker to indicate where you want the eyes to go. You can also give your puppet other facial features if you choose, such as eyebrows or a nose.

Step 2: Take the sock off and glue googly eyes where you marked the spots for the eyes. You can also use buttons or draw the eyes on with a marker.

Step 3: If you’d like, use the yarn or pipe cleaners and glue to give your puppet some hair. Now you’re ready to show off your sock puppet!

Bear hugs,

Thorndyke
